Armani's foundation has been voted #1 five years in a row by several beauty editors. It's amazing moisture, coverage and feel without looking like you've got a mask on or feeling oily. It's oil and fragance free. However if you had to choose between the others you mentioned, then I would say Chanel is second best.
The best make-up base, foundation, powder, eye-shadow, liner, lip-stick, bronzer,etc is not from over the counter retailers. They have too many chemicals in them that your skin does not need and actually attract dirt and airborne particles, thus clogging your pores and increasing the risk of breakouts.





I am a firm believer in Bare Minerals. Just like the name says, it is made of minerals from the earth. It is feather light, coverage is flawless, easy to apply and you can even sleep in it. (you know if you come home super late and are just that exhaused) Don't make a habit of it though and just make sure you wash your face first thing in the moring. If by makeup base you mean foundation, I would try prescriptives. They have the best color matching system of any makeup company, and some of their counters custom blend foundations to perfectly match your skin.





Armani foundations are usually a favorite of magazines like Allure, but the counters are harder to find.





If by base you mean a foundation primer or skin prep, then hands down the best is Smashbox Photofinish primer.
