How to choose a correct makeup base colour?

test it on your armHow to choose a correct makeup base colour?
Check and see how close the color on the inside of your arm is to your face. If it matches, figure out how light ar dark it is, and how yellow or red it is. Then test the makeup against it, and if it ';disappears'; you have the right color. (I have trouble because I have more blue in my skin than most people have, so there are brands I can't use.)How to choose a correct makeup base colour?
Your foundation color should be similar to your neck color, thus no makeup line.
Your complexion color is the same color as the inside of your wrist area. Match colors in the department store to your wrist, and that will match almost completely to your complexion color (unless you use self-tanner on your face, then you'll just have to do that one on your own girl...) Hope this helps! Good luck!
They say to apply it to your hand, but my hand is waaay darker than my face. Best for me, actually go to the make-up counter in a dept. store and get the woman at Prescriptives or lancome or another good quality company to help you match your shade. If this stuff is too pricey for you, they will give you a tiny sample to take home with you for free. Then take this sample to the drug store and match it with the cheaper brands there. FYI- Jane is owned by Estee Lauder. L'Oreal is owned by Lancome. Hope this helps.
Go to a department store and have someone test foundation on the side of your face (close to the jawline) to get the most natural match. The foundation should disappear into your face. Perscriptives is a good brand to try. Then you will know your skin tone.
I went to Macy's because they carry CLINIQUE the best foundation ever because it's 100% fragrance free and oil free so it won't clog your pores.

Just go to a department store, sit down, and they'll match you up with a color. They might ask you if you want your ';pink'; tones highlighted or your ';gold'; tones. I'm darker so I chose gold tones.

Hope this helps. Have fun, and don't worry about the money, your face deserves the best!
Test it on the inside of your wrist. Your face is usually close to that color.
